Having an Incident Management process in place to ensure that if there is a possible data breach, the correct procedures are followed in a timely manner is crucial. As is ensuring that all employees are appropriately trained and know what to do.
If a data loss is reportable to the Information Commissioner in the UK, it needs to be reported within 72 hours. When time is of the essence, it makes sense to have the relevant processes and procedures already in place.
Would your employees be able to recognise a Subject Access Request and know what to do with it? Do you have a Subject Access Request process in place so that you can respond to a request within the 30 days timescale set by Data Protection legislation?
